The Grade II listed Old Rectory is an elegant 18th century Georgian country house set in a rural location with sweeping views towards the River Severn, and as its name suggests, it is conveniently close to the picturesque medieval St Andrews’ church, where the vicar is happy to marry couples wishing to tie the knot in church.

The Old Rectory is owned by Jane Bowyer, a nationally renowned interior designer, who can give her expert advice on choice of colours, flowers and accessories for the big day.

For those who might love their horses nearly as much as their partner, The Old Rectory can accommodate in a range of ways, with advice, stabling, horses, or arrange for horse-drawn carriages.

The charming white Georgian house gives a stylish and intimate backdrop to a celebration of a future life together.

From your first enquiry, to the last dance on the wedding night, the friendly and helpful Old Rectory will be moving mountains to make sure the day runs like clockwork, and will be a day treasured throughout your married life together.   

Conveniently located close to the A48 near Chepstow, there are easy transport links with the M48/M4 motorways to Bristol and London or westbound to South Wales.

The Old Rectory works with trusted partners, each specialists in their own fields, to offer a range of bespoke wedding packages to suit every budget or request.

You may be looking for an intimate gathering, enjoying champagne and canapés in the warm charm of the period drawing rooms. The Georgian formal dining room provides the perfect candlelit setting for 14 guests to experience fine dining, fine wine and flowing conversation over the sparkle of crystal and silver.

Or for the larger party, the Old Rectory can accommodate with a marquee in the grounds, complete with dance floor and DJ.

A consultation with your dedicated Event Manager will be the first step in creating and booking the perfect package designed for you.

This may include:

Rehearsal night supper.

Overnight accommodation for the night before the wedding with breakfast and bucks fizz.

A hairdresser and make up artist can be arranged for you, and your bridal party, to ensure you are your looking your most gorgeous.

Stroll or ride to the church along the landscaped driveway.

Champagne and canapes on your return with opportunities for photographs on the magnificent sweeping staircase.

Your choice of menu prepared by your dedicated chef.


Wedding Services

During the consultation we will be able to advise on all the unique touches we will be able to deliver to make your day perfect for you.

Weddings at the church can be arranged with the co-operation of the vicar.

A civil ceremony licence has been applied for.

Hen party

The Old Rectory is not only ideal for the wedding day, but is a versatile venue for a perfect for the Hen Party before the big day. Either use it as a luxurious location to prepare before your big night out or pamper for a perfect night in.

Opportunity to add a difference to your hen party – bespoke embroidered ring cushions or initialled bridesmaids cushions are a few items to add that personal touch.

Pamper Parties

Enjoy a glass of bubbly, whilst snuggling into an Egyptian cotton bathrobe as you are buffed and preened by our expert beauty therapists and hairdressers.

Set within the Severn Vale, the Old Rectory is a short drive from a number activities in the Royal Forest of Dean or along the famous Wye Valley. The beautiful location enjoys quick and easy links to a range of activities for any active Hen Party including: quad bikes, golf, horse riding, and even scuba diving as well as the opportunity to Go Ape in the forest.

The Gallica Rose Bedroom

Ideal for use as the bridal suite, the spacious Gallica Rose room is full of character and is a comfortable delight. Relax in the four poster bed whilst enjoying the views across open countryside. A dedicated dressing room and glamorous ensuite will ensure you have everything you need to prepare for, or unwind, after your big day.

The Arabella Bedroom

Luxury is the watchword in this bedroom. A four poster bed and elegant dressing table ensure a comfortable stay for a member of the wedding party. This room shares a large bathroom with the Mulberry Room.

The Beaufort Bedroom

Six Foot or Twin beds and ensuite facilities make the perfect place to prepare for the excitement ahead or wind down after a perfect day.

The Hellebore Bedroom

Elegant and sophisticated, this bedroom provides a home from home where beautiful antique furniture combines with the convenience of an ensuite bathroom. This room has a five foot double bed or can be a twin room.

The Lilacs Bedroom

This spacious bedroom, positioned at the top of the house, enjoys expansive views across to the River Severn. Relax on the cosy sofa before climbing into crisp white linen on the antique bed.

The Mulberry Room

A Cosy, yet elegant room has a bow window enjoying expansive views across the River Severn. This room shares a large bathroom with the Arabella Room.
